Digitization Assistant

Are you interested in preserving and sharing Nantucket’s unique history? Are you looking for a behind-the-scenes, part-time job in a quiet atmosphere?

The NHA Research Library is hiring both year round and seasonally for its digitization program. You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment to digitize one-of-a-kind relics of Nantucket’s past that will be shared worldwide.

Critical skills are an eye for detail and a willingness to learn. No previous digitization or library experience is required; we will train in object handling, equipment use, and workflows.

 Museum Shop Attendant

The NHA is seeking a Museum Shop Attendant who is responsible for the prompt and courteous service of patrons. Duties include collecting payments, stocking shelves, ensuring cleanliness of the work and storage area and maintaining Museum Shop inventory. Applicants must have excellent cash handling skills, customer relation skills and the ability to lift (40) pounds. This position requires the ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including weekends.

Visitor Services Representative

The Nantucket Historical Association seeks Whaling Museum Visitor Services Representatives to sell tickets, welcome visitors, and provide information about program offerings to the visiting public. Applicants must have excellent cash handling skills and enjoy interacting with visitors. A minimum commitment of two days/week is required, and Saturday availability.

Do you love Nantucket history and want to learn more? Do you love to engage with an audience? The NHA wants YOU to join our team to provide tours of the Whaling Museum and Historic Properties. Guides must be enthusiastic and present information factually. Love of theater, a plus!
